Professor Wesley Smith

Professor Wesley Smith founded the Smith Institute of Martial Arts in 1990 with a vision of preserving traditional martial arts while making them accessible to all who seek to learn.
With over 40 years of training, he has studied under renowned masters Dr. David Brownridge, bringing back authentic teachings to share with his students. His approach balances rigorous physical training with the philosophical and spiritual aspects that make martial arts a complete path of development.

Professor Dixon was an incredible human being and martial artist. In my opinion, he exemplified what it truly meant to be a student of the martial arts — constantly learning, constantly trying new things, and refining his craft. He loved helping others achieve their goals in all aspects of life. He was an amazing instructor and friend, and I miss him deeply. Rest in peace, Professor Dixon.

My martial arts journey began in 1995, I trained in Tai Wei Kung Fu and Shudokan Karate, building a foundation in striking, kicking, grappling, and practical self-defense. More than technique, that training taught me discipline, hard work, and quiet self-confidence, a mindset of staying grounded and trusting the process that I carry into everything I do.
